The environment is already under immense strain from global warming, and the rise of armed conflicts is compounding the crisis. Wars accelerate ecological destruction and the Iran–US war is emerging as the latest conflict to inflict severe environmental damage.
Multiple ongoing wars such as the Iran-US war, the Russia-Ukraine war, the Sudan civil war, along with the numerous other small wars and conflicts across the globe are leading to loss of a staggering number of lives, causing massive civilian casualties, widespread displacement, and severe psychological trauma. Wars not only destroy lives but also have long-term impacts on the environment. More recently, the Iran-US war has led to significant environmental devastation.
