Snakehead Fish Feed their Offspring with Trophic Eggs

A new study conducted at the University of Turku, Finland has highlighted that a certain species of snakehead fish feed their offspring with rare trophic eggs, a form of parental nutrient provisioning not common in fish. This behavior could have led the fish to adapt to new environments which lack suitable food.

New Water Treatment Techniques Could Contribute to Healthier Ecosystems

A group of researchers headed by the University of Tübingen’s Professor Rita Triebskorn has been investigating the effects of various wastewater treatments on the health of fish. The scientists, from the Institute of Evolution and Ecology (EvE), found that the type of wastewater treatment needs to be decided on a case by case basis, depending on the composition of toxins in the wastewater.
