Facts and Figures of the Global Chemical & Pharmaceutical Industry
This statistic shows the global production output of the chemical fiber industry by fiber type from 2000 to 2017. In 2000, some 28.4 million metric tons of synthetic fibers were produced worldwide. Until 2017, amount produced annually increased to 64.9 million metric tons. Chemical fibers are made from organic (“natural”) and synthetic polymers. Chemical fibers are manufactured industrially for various purposes. For example, polypropylene fibers are produced for upholstery textiles.
